Officer Involved Shooting Logan/Morgan Counties, April 28/29th, 2018

On April 28, 2018 Christopher Luedtke stole a 1995 Peterbilt 379 semi-tractor, with a 1984 Wilson Grain Trailer Co., Inc. trailer attached, from the property of Matt and Bethany Kilmer. Upon discovering that the semi-the vehicle was missing, Mr. Kilmer immediately called 911 to report it as stolen.

Simultaneously, Logan County dispatch center received a driving complaint indicating that a semi-truck had almost hit the reporting party head-on. The driver of the semi-truck was later determined to be the suspect Christopher Luedtke.

What followed was a pursuit of the suspect throughout cities in both Logan and Morgan Counties by multiple law enforcement officers. Of these officers, Cpl. Ross Blank with the Brush Police Department and Sgt. Christopher Griggs with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department used lethal force in an attempt to stop the suspect and bring his reckless endangerment of other citizens to an end. The suspect was eventually apprehended and sustained no bullet wounds.

After investigating and reviewing the relevant facts and measuring them against the law, it was determined that the use of deadly force by Cpl. Ross Blank and Sgt. Christopher Griggs was clearly justified.
