Officer Involved Shooting Morgan County, June 14-15, 2019

On June 14, 2019 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 17332 Highway 71 in Morgan County in reference to a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival of law enforcement and during the course of the initial investigation, a gunshot was fired at approximately 9:45 p.m. by Fabian San Miguel. Repeated loud, verbal commands were given by law enforcement officers in an attempt to cause Mr. San Miguel to surrender. After several minutes of clear commands being ignored, and in response to Mr. San Miguel shouting “suicide by cop”, law enforcement officers involved returned fire including less-lethal beanbag rounds towards the vehicle. Fabian San Miguel was taken into custody and was found in possession of an AR-15 style rifle with a drum magazine.

After investigating and reviewing the relevant facts and measuring them against the law, it was determined that the use of deadly force by Deputy Tyler Price, Officer Aaron Arndt, and Officer Dustin Quick was clearly justified.
